Después de la boda, Colometa queda embarazada. Quimet compra una moto. En una fiesta popular, Colometa se encuentra y saluda a un antiguo novio. Con el nacimiento del niño, al que llaman Toni, comienzan las preocupaciones para ella. Un día recogen a una paloma herida y Quimet construye un palomar. En abril de 1931 se proclama la República y Quimet y sus amigos, gozosos y optimistas, lo celebran. Las verdaderas preocupaciones de Colometa llegan con el nacimiento de una niña. Comienzan los problemas económicos y decide ponerse a trabajar.
