Basada en textos del dramaturgo Ion Luca Caragiale (1852-1912), "De ce trag clopotele, Mitica?" (¿Por qué tocan las campanas, Mitica?) es un delirante retrato de la sociedad rumana de la época, que caminaba por la cuerda floja entre la promiscuidad y la autocompasión; una sociedad turbulenta y débil, falsamente alegre y poseída por una tristeza endémica.
